There are at least five bands named The Brood.
1. The Brood was a crossover thrash band from Los Angeles, CA., United States, that would (after one album as The Brood) change its name to Uncle Slam. The band was formed in 1984 when guitar player Jon Nelson and drummer Amery Smith quit Suicidal Tendencies to form a band with former Neighborhood Watch bass player John Flitcraft and guitar player Todd Moyer. Nelson took care of the vocal duties in The Brood with a little help from Moyer, who sang on a few songs.
The Brood got a record deal with Profile Records and released their one and only self-titled album, The Brood, in 1986. Soon after that, Nelson and Flitcraft quit while Smith and Moyer decided to form another band for which Moyer would be the lead vocalist and hired former Suicidal Tendencies bass player Louiche Mayorga. The band became Uncle Slam.
2. The Brood was a short-lived, proto-psychedelic beat band from the United Kingdom, active from 1966 to 1968 and fronted by Jeff Peters. The band members had grown up as friends and neighbors of The Kinks, near Fortis Green. This came in handy when The Brood visited a recording studio in Islington in 1966: they recorded some songs with The Kinks' Dave Davies, including two compositions of their own, 'Wrong Way' and 'You're Just Another Girl'. The recordings were not released at the time, but have since been included on sixties beat compilations. Another session with The Brood was produced by Keith Moon and John Entwhistle of The Who. The Brood changed their name in February 1968, signing to Decca as Turqouise.
3. The Brood is also a contemporary, sixties-inspired, all-female garage rock band from Maine, United States.
4. The Brood is a punk band from Philadelphia, United States, featuring members of several notable 'Philly' bands.
5. The Brood is a grinding hardcore band born in the London underground metal scene in 2014. After some initial lineup changes, the band coalesced into its current formation: Aitor (drums), Senen (guitar), Nando (guitar), Donnie (bass) and Iain (vocals).
The Brood produces a fast-paced, aggressive blend of crusty grind, enriched with black metal riffs and manic blast beat assaults. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
