The Magic of Nomads is a kazakhstani jazz/fusion band performing the national kazakh music in modern jazz arrangements. The band is comprised of professional musicians, each of whom is a bright individual, which makes their music an outstanding cultural experience.
Gaziza Gabdrakhimova
The originator and the leader of the project «The Magic of Nomads», a
professional performer on the ancient Kazakh instrument the kobyz, which is one
of the brightest instruments in Kazakh culture. Her style is a synthesis of
traditional and modern music. Gaziza has presented the culture of Kazakhstan in
France, Germany, Britain and the USA. She has received a degree the Master of
Arts from the International Academy of Business in 2007.
Renat Gaissin
A well-known composer, arranger and the musical producer of «The Magic of Nomads».
He has worked in a variety of genres - songs, instrumental compositions, film
scores and symphonies. Renat was the laureate of many international music
festivals in many countries. His music is the most popular in Kazakhstan, and
the most frequently performed. He is ranked among the finest composers of
contemporary music in Kazakhstan.
Yedil Khussainov
A composer and folk-music researcher who plays the ancient Kazakh musical
instruments the zhetygen, the sybyzgy, the sazsyrnay, the kamys syrnay and the
shankobyz. Yedil has unique type of vocal – throat-singing where you can hear
two sounds. There two types of throat singing: kargyr (low), and sagyt (high).
Shamans were using throat signing in ritual dancing in the past. His music
combines the ancient and the modern, connecting the ancestors of the kazakhs,
the saki, the huns and the turks, in music.
Salimgerey Sadykov
A performer on the traditional kazakh instrument the dombra and a gifted
musician who combines a unique technique with traditional singing. He is active
on the concert platform and has presented the culture of Kazakhstan in Russia,
Switzerland, Germany and elsewhere. Salimgerey is the dean of the dombra
department at the Kurmangazy National Conservatory.
Viktor Khomenkov
A composer, arranger, teacher and leading jazz pianist of Kazakhstan. His talent
and virtuoso technique playing different instruments, understanding the music
materials is a great benefit to the project «The Magic of Nomads». Viktor has
participated in many jazz festivals and conferences as a member of various jazz
groups.
Yermek Diyarov
A composer, arranger, and a talented musician. Virtuoso and multi-instrumentalist
who has gained a great respect not only in Kazakhstan but abroad as well. Yermek
has performed in North and South Korea, China, the USA, Germany, Turkey and
