Mahkey is a Croatian alternative rock band led by vocalist and songwriter Mahir Kapetanović. Initially a solo project, Mahkey has evolved into a full-fledged band, blending elements of grunge, sevdah, and post-rock to create a unique soundscape. Their music is characterised by raw emotional expression, exploring themes of inner conflict, addiction, and existential introspection.
The band's debut album, Osobni karton izbjeglice (2023), introduced Mahkey's distinctive style, but it was their sophomore release, Palo Santo (2025), that marked a significant evolution. Recorded in Valencia, Spain, the album delves into darker, more intense sonic territories. The lead single, "Šutim jer te lažem," exemplifies this shift, presenting a heavy, grunge-infused track that confronts personal demons and the complexities of self-deception.
Mahkey's lineup includes Mahir Kapetanović (vocals), Rijad Šuta (drums), Zoran Ernoić (bass), and Rejhan Okanović (guitar and production). Their live performances are known for their visceral energy, capturing the raw essence of their studio recordings.
With Palo Santo, Mahkey has solidified their place in the Croatian music scene, offering a compelling fusion of traditional Balkan influences and modern rock sensibilities. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
