Frequently appearing as The Pat Puckett Band, Pat Puckett is a singer-songwriter and guitarist recording on the independent label, "Soulow Records." As a solo artist, Pat Puckett has been kicking around in various forms (due to a few dozen line-up changes and counting) for the last 10 years. His new record, 'kantine,' features guest artists Alejandro Escovedo, The Silos's Walter Salas-Humara and Paul Harris(Nick Drake,Buffalo Springfield). Puckett also did a brief stint in Escovedo's band as guitarist as well as helping out his friend Eric Bachmann/Crooked Fingers on live dates. His appearances as guest artist, on recordings by other bands (such as Cold Water Army, are legion; and Puckett currently claims he has a pile of recordings taller than himself (and he is pretty tall), and he has recently released a new album, kantine.
Now based in Tallahassee, Florida, Puckett launched his local appearances as guitarist for The Casual T's.
His live performances are moving, vocal expositions of the human experience sung with an almost intimate, revealing voice, musically infused with a wide range of often experimental segues to such genres as the psychedelic or the drone, often from a roots/Americana base. The lyrics and lyricism, and the articulation and expressiveness, have been likened to those Alejandro Escovedo and Jim Carroll. As one newspaper reviewer observed, Puckett "can rock ‘n’ roll just as often as he can be soft and sensitive, going from a raunchy, Lynyrd Skynyrd-type of romp to a soft, fragile Neil Young-type of vocal melody throughout a live set. Sometimes, this kind of contrast can all take place inside one song."
