Be Careful (feat. R. Kelly) Lyrics

Two years ago, promises is all I heard
Wait a minute, let me finish
Two years ago, promises is all I heard
Out of yo mouth
And now you wanna walk away, boy
And tear down the walls in this house
You used to tell me sweet things
Sweet things in the morning time
Now all you do is hurt me
And think that everything is fine

You better be careful what you say to me
Cuz it might turn around on you
You better be careful what you do to me
Cuz somebody might do it to you

Now who was there for you
When your ass was out of work, nig
All by myself taking little aman to church
So quick to hang up the phone
When I step in the room
Then you wanna turn it all around
Im gettin tired of playin fool

You better be careful what you say to me
Cuz it might turn around on you
You better be careful what you do to me
Cuz somebody might do it to you

If the shoe fits, wear it boy
(ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya)
If the shoe fits, wear it boy
(ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya)

Two years ago, didnt know you had male friends
Wait a minute, let me finish
Two years ago, didnt know you had male friends
Off up in college
I found out youre still reaching out
To some of them, mrs. busy-body
Mmm, you used to listen to me
When you were down and lost
But now you dont even respect me
Ever since I got laid off

You better be careful what you say to me
Cuz it might turn around on you
You better be careful what you do to me
Cuz somebody might do it to you

Now who gave you money when yo ass was broke
Without a dime, nigga
And even though aman is not my child I made her mine
So quick to run to your friends and talk about
What we do in this house
And then you wanna party all night long
What the hell you talkin bout

You better be careful what you say to me
Cuz it might turn around on you
You better be careful what you do to me
Cuz somebody might do it to you

If the shoe fits, wear it girl
(ah ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya)
If the shoe fits, wear it girl
(ah, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya)

1. Sparkle first started singing in her family's gospel music group. Sparkle met singer R. Kelly in while he was working on a male artist in 1989. Sparkle was the first and only successful artist to release an album on Kelly's Rockland label. Sparkle's debut album, the self-titled Sparkle, was released on May 19, 1998. The album debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the R&B charts and was certified Platinum very soon after the release. The album is best known for the single "Be Careful," a 1998 duet with R. Kelly, which made it to two of Billboard's major airplay charts, peaking at No. 3 on the Rhythmic Top 40 and charted at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot R&B Airplay for six consecutive weeks, while also reaching No. 7 in the UK.[1]
Despite the success of her debut album, Sparkle and R. Kelly began to have creative differences while working on her second album, which led to her to ask to be released from Rockland/Interscope. She then signed with Motown Records, where she would release her second album Told You So in 2000.
