Turn Away Lyrics

Background Vocals: Cynthia Jernigan

They say that love is wonderful
They say that love is marvelous
Then tell me why did you turn away, boy

1 - Turn away from my love
Turn away, boy
Turn away from my love
Turn away, boy

Twelve o'clock in the noon day
And I'm just getting out of bed
The thoughts of losing you
Are still hanging round my head
I don't know why
I don't know why you left me all alone, boy
Tin bird he flies
Private jets, first class to Texas
What's going on?

Repeat 1

Baby, don't you know that I've been missing you
So bring your lovin' home
Cuz you've been gone too long
I don't know why
I don't know why you left me all alone
Tin bird he flies
Such an empty space inside of me

Repeat 1

Turn away from my love
My love my love
Turn away from my love
My love my love

Since you turned away
Oh, life ain't been worth living
Since you turned away
My love ain't been worth giving
Since you turned away
You see this house is not a home
Since you turned away
Baby I just can't go on since you

Repeat 1 until fade

1. Sparkle first started singing in her family's gospel music group. Sparkle met singer R. Kelly in while he was working on a male artist in 1989. Sparkle was the first and only successful artist to release an album on Kelly's Rockland label. Sparkle's debut album, the self-titled Sparkle, was released on May 19, 1998. The album debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the R&B charts and was certified Platinum very soon after the release. The album is best known for the single "Be Careful," a 1998 duet with R. Kelly, which made it to two of Billboard's major airplay charts, peaking at No. 3 on the Rhythmic Top 40 and charted at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot R&B Airplay for six consecutive weeks, while also reaching No. 7 in the UK.[1]
Despite the success of her debut album, Sparkle and R. Kelly began to have creative differences while working on her second album, which led to her to ask to be released from Rockland/Interscope. She then signed with Motown Records, where she would release her second album Told You So in 2000.
