Rockingchair Dancer Lyrics

When I was young
I tried to be a rockinghorse master
Went back and forth
Pretended I was in a western

Or strutting a street parade
On Independence Day
'Cause the rockinghorse master
Always has places to be

When I grew up
I found I was a carousel cleaner
Turned on the songs
And wiped down the horses each evening

They rose and fell and pranced
An endless circle dance
And the carousel cleaner
always has bulbs to change

If it ever stops turning
If it ever stops turning

And now I'm old
I wanna be a rockingchair dancer
Nowhere to go
I already found what I'm after

I'm calm as a lazy storm
That rumbles and never comes
And the rockingchair dancers
Always have hands to hold

If it ever stops raining
If it ever stops raining
If it ever stops raining
If it ever stops raining
