Screw Dat Lyrics

We gon' screw dat

Bring your music down to H-town
(We gon' screw dat)
You better tell ya girl cause this shit come around
(We gon' screw dat)
You see some 80 4's creepin' through ya town
(We gon' screw dat)
We started the purple stuff down in H-town
(We gon' screw dat)

Bring your music down to H-town
(We gon' screw dat)
You better tell ya girl cause this shit come around
(We gon' screw dat)
You see some 80 4's creepin' through ya town
(We gon' screw dat)
We started the purple stuff down in H-town
(We gon' screw dat)

I'm from the city of the codeine, candy paint with fallin' screens
Diamonds in my grill and ear, you know I live a baller's dream
My music gotta be
(Screwed up)
I came in the game and moved up
A lot of people hate the fact that Mike Jones blew up
I got diamonds shinin' on my cross, candy blind me from the gloss
I keep my hand on Nina Ross for haters who wanna break me off
80 4's underneath my ride, fortified keep it by my side
M.O.B. until I die, females fall when I pass by

Bring your music down to H-town
(We gon' screw dat)
You better tell ya girl 'cause this shit come around
(We gon' screw dat)
You see some 80 4's creepin' through ya town
(We gon' screw dat)
We started the purple stuff down in H-town
(We gon' screw dat)

Bring your music down to H-town
(We gon' screw dat)
You better tell ya girl 'cause this shit come around
(We gon' screw dat)
You see some 80 4's creepin' through ya town
(We gon' screw dat)
We started the purple stuff down in H-town
(We gon' screw dat)

You know me hundred dollar bills on my fold up
80 4's every time I roll up
Purple drink every time I po' up, purple drink every time I po' up
Doe-doe that's all I blow up, got in the game and I had to show up
Piece and chain, diamond range, when you see it it'll make you throw up
Down south we flip the bills hold wood wheel and show icy grills
I'm still runnin' the underground, even though I got a major deal
Down south we flip the bills hold wood wheel and show icy grills
I'm still runnin' the underground, even though I got a major deal

Bring your music down to H-town
(We gon' screw dat)
You better tell ya girl cause this shit come around
(We gon' screw dat)
You see some 80 4's creepin' through ya town
(We gon' screw dat)
We started the purple stuff down in H-town
(We gon' screw dat)

Bring your music down to H-town
(We gon' screw dat)
You better tell ya girl 'cause this shit come around
(We gon' screw dat)
You see some 80 4's creepin' through ya town
(We gon' screw dat)
We started the purple stuff down in H-town
(We gon' screw dat)

So we be jammin' our music slow, candy drippin' up off the do'
Diamonds shinin, pimp reclinin' I'm actin' bad on all you hoes
2 8 1 3 3 oh, 8 0 0 4
Hit Mike Jones up on the low 'cause Mike Jones about to blow
Swishahouse, Swisha blast, we on the grind, for the cash
Y'all movin' slow, we movin' fast, y'all movin' slow, we movin' fast
I'm stackin' dough, pimpin' hoes, grippin' grain sippin' on fo-fo's
I stay on the grind 'til the day I go, I stay on the grind 'til the day I go

Bring your music down to H-town
(We gon' screw dat)
You better tell ya girl cause this shit come around
(We gon' screw dat)
You see some 80 4's creepin through ya town

At least three artists share this name:

1) A southern rap artist from the northside of Houston, TX, born January 6, 1981.

Mike Jones has become well-known for his unique repetition of his own name throughout his songs. Many of his songs contain the phrases "Who is Mike Jones?" or "Mike Jones!" His major promotional gimmick is to sell and hand out shirts with his cell phone number on them (athletic department-style shirts reading "Property of Mike Jones"), as well as shouting out the number throughout his mixtapes and albums, encouraging fans to call him on his Motorola phone.

Jones is known for recording in the "chopped & screwed" style popularized by DJ Screw, also of Houston. The slowed-down audio aesthetic supposedly mimics the effect of "sippin' sizzurp," that is, cough syrup containing codeine. Most followers of the chopped & screwed style claim that it has outgrown its drug-related roots. Jones' trademark technique is to take a line from one of his songs and use it as a chorus in another, or sometimes even in the same song, screwing, chopping and repeating it (for example, the chorus to "Back Then" is sampled from the track "Still Tippin").

Jones has used repetition of certain words and phrases extensively in his songs. An example of this can be found in songs such as Back Then when he constantly repeats "Mike Jones" and "Who is Mike Jones." As a result, he has come under intense scrutiny or criticism from fellow rappers in his native Houston such as rappers Chamillionaire and Lil' Flip who have accused Mike Jones of copying their slang or criticized his aforementioned rapping style.

2) Solo pianist. Mike Jones (born August 11, 1962) is an American jazz pianist. He has appeared onstage with Penn and Teller since 2006, and continues to play with them during their nightly show in Las Vegas.

He first garnished praise as a young musician, performing professionally at the age of ten. Following the advice of Oscar Peterson, Jones attended Berklee School of Music, in Boston. While still attending the school he started work as a studio musician.

During his time commuting from Boston to New York, Jones worked as the on-air pianist and music director of the Nancy Merrill Show. He also appeared throughout the New England area with jazz musicians Herb Pomeroy, Gray Seargent, Dick Johnson, and others. In 1994 his first solo recording on Chiaroscuro Records, "Oh, Look At Me Now" was released. This was followed by "Runnin' Wild" recorded live in Buffalo, NY, his hometown, and then "Live At Steinway Hall", in New York City.

3) An experimental tape artist from Cardiff, Wales.

Mike Jones ran the CTOANR cassette tape label in the early eighties which featured the likes of Artists such as The Stripey Zebras's, Instant Automatons and other independent artists. Mike was also a recording artist and played in The Chromosomes, Effigies (UK) and released solo work.

Recordings from Mike and The Chromosomes were released in 2008 by the American Label Hyped2Death. The album Messthetics: Greatest Hiss features "Reckless Policies" from Mikes 1981 solo Album "Pretty Flowers", "Hi Fi Know How" by The Chromosomes plus a Cardiff based radio competition where his band finished third (out of three).

Since 1985 Mike has played in the punk/techno/C86 band named Otalgia (which is a medical term for earache). Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
